I have a problem. Fresh fish is wonderful but eating 4-5 pounds per week to get real omega3 benefits is expensive and difficult to arrange. Plus, I would be ignoring the FDA warning of the contaminants, such as PCBs and mercury, found in various species; they suggest restricting my consumption to 1 to 1 1/2 pounds per week. The answer to this dilemma is actually simple – omega3 capsules that are rich in DHA and EPA fatty acids.

I am using the term omega3 deliberately. We are not shopping for things like cod liver oil, flax seeds or farmed fish. What we are looking for is a soft gel supplement that gives us the DHA and EPA fatty acids that are prevalent in wild cold water species – without the pollutants.

This can be done but selecting the right fish oil capsules is important. There are literally dozens of manufacturers out there that offer supplements of widely different quality and price points. By the way higher prices and quality don’t always go together.

Some examples of antioxidant fruits are in the berry family. These can include blueberries, cranberries, the acai berry and pomegranates. Other examples include prunes and raisins. Scientists have been researching the benefits of antioxidants for years. They are known to protect the cells of the body and keep them from harm. Often people that smoke or that have a family history of certain diseases (such as heart disease or cancer) can benefit from power antioxidant fruits. Regularly incorporating some the antioxidant-rich foods into a dieting regimen, can be nearly impossible. Nutritional supplements can provide the antioxidants that you cannot get from your regular diet.

The fish oil source is important. Sardines, hoki and types of tuna are the best. Fish eat where they live. My product is sourced from the Southern ocean near New Zealand – one of the least traveled places on earth – fewer ships – fewer pollutants.
