Building muscle fast isn’t as easy as you might think, but I’m glad to say that it isn’t as difficult as some would have you believe, even if you are a hard gainer. It comes down to getting the most effect from the training you do.
Here are 5 great tips for how to gain muscle fast.
1. Make sure to get enough food and rest
If you want to get serious about building muscle fast, then you need to get serious about what you eat. You need to make sure your body gets sufficient energy to sustain the new growth, building muscle is demanding on your body. Most people that can’t seem to build muscle like they would like to, is eating far to little amounts of food. 5 or 6 times per day you must eat a solid meal. Make sure the food you eat is high quality, junk food won’t build a healthy body.
It’s equally important to allow your body time to recover between workouts. Building muscle fast is about working smarter not just about working harder. And when you work out you should go at it with maximum intensity, and after that you give your body time to relax and recover completely before your next workout.
2. Never Perform More Than 10 Reps
Doing more than 10 reps per set is emphasizing your slow-twitch muscle fibers which have less opportunity for muscle growth. In every set you need to use the most muscle fibers possible, even more so if you have trouble building muscle mass. More than 10 reps won’t make you grow as fast, always select your weights based on that. If you really want to gain muscle fast then get your mind into heavy lifting mode.
3. Reduce Your Workout Time
I you perform more work in less time you have increased your work intensity. Work refers to the number of sets, reps and weight within your workout. The next time you go to work out, try to see if you can complete your routine in less time. Time your rests and keep them short, and go from exercise to exercise quicker. This can really make your workout feel intense! This is one of the easiest tips you can implement to increase your muscle density and your fitness level.
4. Only Do One Exercise Per Muscle Group
You don’t need to mutilate a muscle for an hour to get growth out of it. Your goal should be to stimulate your muscles to develop. Not exhaust them to death. If your muscles experience an unknown stimulus, your body will try to build muscle mass to counter future assaults like that! So once you have worked a muscle group with maximal effort, it’s time to move to the next muscle group.
5. Do No More Than 3-5 Sets Per Muscle Group
You have to question a hard gainers workout intensity if they do more than 3-5 sets per muscle group. Remember, building muscle fast for the hard gainer requires following a new set of rules.
Your first 1 or 2 sets should be around 85% max intensity. The third set at 95% maximal effort and the fourth (and sometimes fifth) set at 100% maximal effort. This last 100% effort set contributes the most to growing the muscle. If you do any sets beyond this, it will only take longer to recover and delay the time before you are ready for your next workout. In this final set you should aim to do at least 1 or 2 extra reps or 5-10 pounds more than your last workout. You have now sparked your muscles into new growth and you can move on.
It is your goal to aim for a 5% or higher increase in your strength every two weeks. Your larger muscle groups like the back and thighs, might develop a bit faster than smaller muscles like triceps and biceps.

Exercise and body building routines will have each person respond individually to the workout. I you are a beginner or even intermediate your workout should never be the same as a pro or advanced body builders workout. If you start out following an advanced body building routine you run the risk of overtraining and injuries, that can set you back months.

You should set your goal and objective for body building to be reasonable and realistic. Everyone experience body changes and improvements in their physique during the first few months. However, your growth and progress will begin to slow down as you reach intermediate level. To keep progressing you might need to follow better designed body building routines and a more specific diet.

Focus on Compound Movements
Compound movements are defined as exercises that target different muscle groups at the same time. These are different from the isolation exercises that intermediate and advanced body builders include in their workouts to bring out more definition.
Beginners should start out with free weights that are rather light to develop a feel for the proper execution of the exercises and a sense of balance. Barbells and dumbbells should be the core of your exercises.

The squat is one of the most important exercises for beginners as well as advanced body builders. It is completely safe if done correctly and can do wonders for your body. The muscle groups involved include the core muscles, abdominals, lower back, the traps, glutes, quads or thighs, hamstrings and parts of the calves. Do some warm-up exercises for 5 to 10 minutes before doing any lifting. A short jog on the threadmill will do. Before each workout set you should do a lighter warm-up set to prepare the muscles and get a feel for the exercise. At the end of your workout do some stretching for 5 – 10 minutes.
You should never use wieghts that are heavier than you can easily complete each set with correct form. If you use bad form or weights that are to heavy, this can easily cause overtraining or injuries. In addition to your body building routines, you should definitely keep a training journal to follow your progress. And as your strength increases you can gradually add more weight to the exercises.
